Drying Prints

< Alle Themen

After the prints have been thoroughly washed, place them on a clean glass or plate and remove the excess water with a squeegee, cotton or viscose sponge.
RC papers can then be hung or are placed in a drying rack. There are also special drying devices that are suitable for drying RC paper.
Glossy baryta papers can be ferrotyped on chromed plates or on a ferrotype machine. However, glossy RC papers should not be dried in contact with a heated drum; the resin coating may adhere to the chrome-plated surface. Ferrotypes dried on machines with a heated drum are best dried at a temperature of about 82°C.
Cleanliness is the most important thing in all ferrotyping operations. Wash water should be filtered to remove solid particles; the glass surface of plates and machines, and the conveyor belts of machines, should be protected from airborne dust.
If fume hoods tend to bulge after drying, wet their backs with water and dry them again under strong pressure for two or three hours.
