Two-bath fixing method

< Alle Themen

To facilitate complete fixation (especially with paper prints), it may be useful to use two fixing baths. In this case, the sensitive material isis treated in the first bath until the emulsion has cleared, and then transferred to a second bath for the same amount of time.

The first bath does most of the work, and the second bath removes the last traces of silver compounds. When the first bath approaches exhaustion, it is discarded and the second bath takes its place.

A fresh fixer is then prepared and used for the second bath. After five such cycles, discard both fixer baths and mix fresh solutions.
